My wife was turned away after being asked if the photo was taken professionally or not.
We did it ourselves in accordance to the guides and examples on the government passport website.
They seemingly want you to opt for a "professional photo" taken by them at a premium of $17 or have had it taken professionally elsewhere or they won't submit the application. Or at least hesitate accepting it.
Luckily, when I submitted mine via the same post office in April, I was quick-witted enough to lie about my photos origin when met with hesitation.
It was a selfie produced with my phones camera - again taken according to the online govt site, and printed at officeworks for their ID photo premium of $8, which is another debate in itself.
My wifes photo was acceptable in every way, despite being told it was too big via an oval overlay produced from under the counter and placed on the photo.
We re-measured at home and it was clearly closer to the minimum accepted size, not over the maximum.
Took the same picture to another post office on the same day and application was accepted without question.
The office is otherwise very helpful for any mail logistics, although is probably due for an upgrade given the amount of people that use the office and are regularly met with a line up from the sliding doors to the counter - 10+ deep. - Brett Goodman Added August 14, 2018★ ★ ★ ★ ★Always friendly service.
